What They Say About Us

K&

When we learned about the loss of our baby girl, there were so many things that ran through our minds. Our emotions were so overwhelming that we could not believe what was happening. As time went by at our stay in the hospital, our wonderful nurse presented us with a Memory Box. She went through the box with us explaining what each item was and how it could help us. The box was beautifully made with handmade pressed flowers on top and on the sides. Inside was a blanket, beanie, small teddy bear, a kit for molding feet or hands, and photo album book. At first it was to much for us to even think about using or looking through the Memory Box. As more hours passed, we were able to become more open to the idea of what the Memory Box had to offer.

Our nurse made sure she would take care of our baby girls molded footprints and pictures of us together wrapped in the pink blanket. When it was time to say goodbye, we gather everything and placed it securely back into the box. Even though our baby girl is not physically with us, her memory was transferred to the Memory Box. We had her footprint moldings, her beanie and her blanket. She was still there, just in a different form. I held her box from that moment forward as if it were her. That was my baby. I was so protective of it and when I placed it down, I watched it like a hawk. Being discharged from the hospital, I carried her box in my arms. We left with her in our hearts, but I also didn't leave empty handed. We are so thankful for all those who have contributed and took that time to make these special Memory Boxes. It has given us something to look back on and remember our baby girl.

The Angel Baby Keepsake boxes/kits are such an important part of caring for our patients and families that have lost a baby. The boxes have become the center of how we as nurses offer something to these parents so they aren't going home empty-handed. There's a variety of designs to choose from so that we can tailor it to each baby, whether we know the sex or not, or even gestational age. The hand/footprint kit is very easy to use and can imprint even the tiniest foot with great detail. We use the flowers and/or teddy bear that comes with each box to pose with the baby to take photos for the parents. Being able to hand the beautiful box to the parents makes it much easier to convey the compassion and sadness we feel for them in their loss. Thank you Christy for creating these mementos and sharing them with us!
